Inauguration of INNER_SPACES with a leader of ambient music, Thomas Köner. In the 90s, with the duo Porter Ricks, a reference figure in dub techno. Over time he has become a multimedia artist who explores the notions of time, place and memory. A constant of him is the pictorial processing of sound. His sound palette is made up of shattered sounds, the result of a process of extension, amplification and reverberation of the original sounds. Thus Köner achieves a very complex monochromatic overall effect.
In the first part, the Milanese debut of the Novi_Sad project, by the Greek Thanasis Kaproulias, with IIC – International Internal Catastrophes, an audiovisual work created in collaboration with Isaac Niemand. The original material, taken in Iceland, is transformed into audiovisual mirages. An immersive performance, but which reflects a skilful geometric construction. The first part of the project is based exclusively on a wide range of sound phenomena (audible and / or inaudible), which have been recorded in a particular natural environment, one of the most hostile on Earth, in Iceland. The second part involves recordings of the vibrations of the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges in New York. A woman’s voice is also heard remembering her children killed during the Bosnian war in 1996. A five-minute piece from this second part entitled Riotous Viscera was selected and used by Lars von Trier for his project. Gesamt, taking up a theme linked to Ulysses by James Joyce.
