The Varese Chamber Choir was founded within the context of school life and on the initiative of Gabriele Conti, a teacher of Choral Exercises, as a response to and enhancement of the desire of some student musicians who discovered the beauty of ensemble singing through the discipline and decided to dedicate their time and passion to it. The Choir has collaborated with the World Chamber Choir, the Camerata Ducale Orchestra of Turin, La Divina Armonia, Nuova Cameristica di Milano, Camerata dei Laghi, the EcoAntica ensemble, and the Traunstein Youth Orchestra. In 2008 and 2011, it won first prize at the National Choral Competition “Lago Maggiore,” promoted by the ACP (Associazione Cori Piemontesi). In 2011, it participated in the 28th Guido d’Arezzo National Polyphonic Competition, where it was awarded first place overall and received the Fe.N.I.Ar.Co. special prize. The Choir places great emphasis on studying and promoting contemporary choral music, with notable premieres of works by F. Caldini, P. Ferrario, A. Mazza, B. Furgeri, and G. Mezzalira. In 2010, in collaboration with L. Ghielmi and La Divina Armonia, the Choir participated in the first recording of F. Feo’s Passio secundum Joannem, published by the Belgian label Passacaille. In May 2016, thanks to a collaboration with Itaca publishing, the Varese Chamber Choir released its first CD, Echo, a collection of sacred a cappella compositions from the 20th and 21st centuries.
