Percussionist, awarded the Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale Musica 2010 (Repertorio Zero project). His research on sound, the design of new instruments, and new compositional solutions for percussion has led him to collaborate with prominent composers, artists, and international ensembles, including Barcelona 216, Berlin PianoPercussion, EnsembleKollektiv, Klangforum Wien, LUX:NM, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, MAM, mdi ensemble, Mosaik, Neue Vocalsolisten, Phace, Prometeo, Sentieri Selvaggi, and Zeitkratzer.
He has performed with the most prestigious Italian orchestras, including the Filarmonica della Scala in Milan, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Claudio Abbado’s Orchestra Mozart, Spiramirabilis, and Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
As a soloist specializing in 20th- and 21st-century music, he has performed at festivals such as Aperto, Warsaw Autumn, Venice Biennale, Zagreb Biennale, Gaida in Vilnius, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Krakow International, Impuls in Graz, Manca in Nice, Milano Musica, and Traiettorie.
He is a founding member and artistic director of ZAUM_percussion, an ensemble established during the three-year residency (2018-21) of the Milano Musica Festival.
He has released four solo albums (Stradivarius label) and has contributed to numerous other recordings for various European labels.
He has composed and performed original music live for dance productions (Aterballetto), theater (Franco Parenti), silent films (Dracula by Bela Lugosi), short films (Catherine van Campen), and literary projects (Wu Ming).
He collaborates with singer-songwriter Giovanni Lindo Ferretti and musicians Gianni Maroccolo and Massimo Zamboni (formerly of CCCP/CSI).
After studying at Italian conservatories, he furthered his education at the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the University of Bologna (DAMS), the Conservatoire National Régional de Paris, ESMUC in Barcelona, and the Hochschule für Musik in Basel.
He is a percussion professor at the Conservatory of Reggio Emilia and a guest professor at the Katarina Gurska Academy in Madrid.
