On Tuesday, Nov. 19, along with the Linecheck festival for its opening event, a new work commissioned from Lorenzo Senni, Canone infinito extended, is premiered. Senni takes the material from the single track Canone infinito, which appeared on the last LP Scacco Matto released by Warp, and develops it into an extended live set. The poignant opening melody rests on a perceptual illusion in which the underlying harmony moves and seems to find a resting point, but is instead constantly restarted, creating an evocative circle of harmonic tension enriched by a melodic plot in counterpoint with a high degree of emotional involvement. Music that effectively dialogues with the dimension of affections and feelings through the use of melodic register and the refinement of colorful timbres of synthetic sounds.

The introduction to Senni’s unreleased work, in stark contrast to it, features an admirable sonic monochrome by Éliane Radigue. This is the second piece excerpted from 1978’s Triptych, originally composed for a choreography by Douglas Dunn, but eventually created in its purely musical guise. A 25-minute continuum characterized by a simple circular movement of the vibrating frequency, repeated in spirals in a mix that highlights a different gradation with each return, playing mostly in amplitude.
