The inaugural concert of the Inner_Spaces spring season is a meeting point between avant-garde sounds and rarefied atmospheres, featuring two performances that offer the audience a unique sonic journey. The first part of the evening is entrusted to Chloé Thévenin, one of the most original voices of the Parisian music scene, who will bring to the stage her intense and immersive sound proposal. Active for years in the electronic music landscape, Chloé is renowned for her ability to intertwine avant-garde sounds with an emotional depth that captivates and surprises.
For this performance, the musician will utilize the Soma Terra, an analog modular synthesizer that enables the exploration of a wide range of timbres and sound layers. This instrument, with its highly organic and unpredictable sound output, allows the creation of soundscapes that range from dreamlike to conceptual. Her music, blending improvisation and composition, emerges as a true sensory experience.
Chloé Thévenin is an artist who has made sound exploration one of her stylistic trademarks. Her approach to electronic music goes beyond mere construction of rhythms and melodies, focusing instead on exploring the numerous possibilities offered by a synthesizer like the Soma Terra. Her live performances are sessions where sound is sculpted in real time, creating an experience that can vary with each performance, forging a special connection with the audience.
The second part of the concert will feature the iconic duo Demdike Stare, composed of Miles Whittaker and Sean Canty, key figures in the electronic and experimental scene. Their approach to music blends dub, industrial, and unsettling sound design, promising a performance that will be equally immersive and mysterious. Demdike Stare are known for crafting soundscapes that defy conventions, mixing electronics, field recordings, and ritualistic sounds.
The energy that Demdike Stare bring to the stage is imbued with constant tension, a sound that delves into the depths of electronic music. Their tracks are dense, enveloped in a sonic fog that may feel menacing but fascinates with its complexity. Each live performance is a work in progress, where the duo’s experimentation merges with audience reaction and interaction, creating a connection that renews itself with every listening experience.
The juxtaposition of performances by Chloé Thévenin and Demdike Stare will thus be a captivating journey between two distinct yet complementary artistic visions, united by a shared pursuit of immersive sensory experiences. Despite their different approaches, both artists share a preference for the emotional intensity and evocative power of sound, capable of transforming the surrounding environment and deeply engaging the listener
