CONCERT
SUNROOF (Gareth Jones, Daniel Miller)
Live set
Live set A/V
Light design: Eric Collignon
The evening opens with a live set by the British duo Sunroof, composed of Daniel Miller, founder of Mute Records, and Gareth Jones. Their collaboration, which began during recording sessions with Depeche Mode, has evolved through sound experiments and remixes for artists such as Can and Goldfrapp. In 2021, they released Electronic Music Improvisations 1, a collection of modular synthesizer improvisations. This approach aims to capture the essence of the creative moment, with tracks that balance electronic tradition and modernity. Their works blend drones, rhythmic sequences, and tonal modulations, moving between analog minimalism and digital experimentation.
The second part of the evening will feature Adam Wiltzie, who rarely appears on the live concert scene. Best known for his work with Stars of the Lid, Wiltzie has built a career centered on exploring soundscapes that unite ambient and minimalist music. His artistry is distinguished by the creative use of orchestral instruments, extreme minimalism with long sustained notes and drones that create ethereal atmospheres, and a focus on sonic ambiance, emotion, and tonal experimentation. Wiltzie’s music is never intrusive but instead invites the listener to lose themselves in the sound, fostering an intimate and personal connection with the piece. On this occasion, Wiltzie will present an audiovisual live set in collaboration with lighting designer Eric Collignon. Collignon’s visual contributions aim to enhance the immersive aspect of the performance, and he is known for his ability to work in synergy with music, creating visual atmospheres that seamlessly integrate with the sonic flow.
In summary, Sunroof will deliver an experience of sonic improvisation and exploration, while Adam Wiltzie, supported by Eric Collignon, will offer a performance where music and light merge to create a narrative of profound emotional resonance.
