Two prominent London sound artists are the protagonists of the last concert of 2017. In the first part, Adam Asnan will perform: trained in electroacoustics at the university, his research is linked to the historical line of concrete music to explore the aesthetic potential of recorded sound and its amplification, the “auditory image” and the power of acoustic and synthetic spatialization. His interest in the phenomenon of reverberation will be a central aspect of his performance in dialogue with the acusmonium.

The second part is dedicated to Luke Younger’s dark ambient / noise project, aka HELM. Trained in the English underground scene between hardcore punk and dark avant-garde, Younger was later able to create powerful and evocative syntheses of sound elements of acoustic and electronic derivation, giving shape to a strong dark aesthetic that crosses an iridescent landscape of marginal territories – glacial drones, gamelan orchestras, feedback walls – merged into a harsh and chaotic post-industrial framework. Live HELM uses samplers and a modular synthesizer, but the main instrument of live concerts is the mixer, as Luke Younger points out.
